From central Rome, take Metro A towards Anagnina and get off at Furio Camillo.
Roma Tuscolana railway station is also nearby and is especially useful for the direct FL1 train to Fiumicino Airport.

Continue on foot to Via del Babuino, Piazza del Popolo or the Pincio terrace.

Advance booking is essential for Galleria Borghese. The park itself is perfect for a slower afternoon.

APPROX. 25–30 MINMetro A directly to Flaminio — 10 stops. The square is immediately outside the station; the Pincio terrace is uphill.

One easy change — or a central walk
For the Colosseum and Circo Massimo, change from Metro A to Metro B at Termini. For the Pantheon, stay on Metro A to Barberini and continue on foot.
Colosseum & Roman Forum
APPROX. 25–30 MINMetro A to Termini — 6 stops. Change to Metro B towards Laurentina and exit at Colosseo — 2 stops.
Allow several hours for the Colosseum, Forum and Palatine Hill. Reserve timed admission through official channels.

APPROX. 25–30 MINMetro A to Termini; change to Metro B towards Laurentina and exit at Circo Massimo — 3 stops.
Continue uphill on foot for the Orange Garden and Aventine Keyhole. Comfortable shoes are useful.

APPROX. 35–40 MINMetro A directly to Barberini — 8 stops — then walk about 18–20 minutes to the Pantheon.
Piazza Navona is about 5 minutes farther on foot. This area is best explored slowly without changing to a bus.

Book the Vatican Museums in advance through the official website. Shoulders and knees must be covered in religious sites.

It pairs naturally with St Peter's Square and offers excellent river and city views from its upper levels.

Appian Way & Roman green spaces
Two memorable alternatives that are particularly convenient from the Via Clelia area.
Appian Way & Cecilia Metella
APPROX. 35–50 MINMetro A towards Anagnina to Arco di Travertino — 2 stops. Outside, take bus 660 towards Parco Appia Antica; continue on foot for the Appian Way and Cecilia Metella.
Waiting and walking times vary, so check the live route before leaving. Sunday is especially atmospheric, but opening hours for archaeological sites vary.

APPROX. 20–25 MINMetro A towards Anagnina to Giulio Agricola — 6 stops — then walk about 8–10 minutes towards the entrances near Via Lemonia.

Leave extra time for waiting, traffic, luggage and possible service changes.
Fiumicino (FCO)
Practical public-transport option: walk about 10–12 minutes to Roma Tuscolana station, then take the FL1 regional train directly to Fiumicino Aeroporto.
The train ride is roughly 40–45 minutes. The FL1 ticket is separate from ATAC urban tickets.

A BIT ticket is valid on Metro A and bus 520 within its 100-minute validity. Allow roughly 45–60 minutes, depending on waiting and traffic.

Allow around 15–20 minutes door to door, plus extra time if you need to find a specific platform or train.
